KUALA LUMPUR – Visithra Manikam is the only Malaysian artist invited to speak at the world’s biggest NFT conference – NFT.NYC – held from June 20 to 23 where 30% of its speakers are from 46 countries with the rest from the US.

Held in seven venues across New York City, including Radio City Music Hall, the conference in its fourth year brings together the global NFT community of brands, developers, entrepreneurs, gamers, artists, investors, collectors, and enthusiasts.

“I’m really honoured to be selected to speak about my art journey at NFT.NYC. As an artist from Malaysia, NFTs have created global opportunities that were out of reach for many artists in Asia previously.

“This is an opportunity that very few artists in Asia, let alone Malaysia, will experience. It is an honour for Malaysia to have an artist represented in the biggest global stage for NFTs,” she told The Vibes.

More than 1,000 NFT community members are expected to speak at the conference and top projects will be showcased along with new ideas and technologies.

Conference co-founder Jodee Rich said in a statement that it is an “ideal platform for some of the most exciting speakers within the NFT community”.

The core values of the conference is to give the community a voice and speakers are chosen based on their thought leadership and passion for NFTs.

Product pitches are also not approved for panels or 10-minute talk segments.

One of the biggest names expected to speak at the conference is Swiss-French racing driver Romain Grosjean who competed in Formula 1 in 2009 and from 2012 to 2020 before his fiery crash in the 2020 Bahrain race. He currently races in the IndyCar series.

Previously, Visithra made headlines after selling her art to international rapper and NFT collector Snoop Dogg on the OpenSea platform but received brickbats after criticising the traditional art industry in Malaysia.

Visithra is also one of Malaysia’s top global NFT artists who is verified on Opensea. Her art is collected globally by more than 220 collectors.

In less than a year joining the NFT community, she has already exhibited in NFT art exhibitions in New York, Los Angeles and soon in Liverpool, UK.
